Five minutes with Shelby …

This little booger is a spunky West Highland White Terrier named Shelby. She lives up the street from my parents and we often see her when walking Abby and Kyla.

She stopped by Christmas Day for a visit, so I had to get out my camera and snap a few of her.

If she would just stay still for more than 2 seconds … Of course, it didn’t help that Abby and Kyla were at the front door wanting to come out and play with her.

Blue Quirks and Bobo

My cat Blue has some quirks, as pretty much all cats do, I suspect. And she doesn’t get near enough blog time, so here’s a look at two of her quirks in action.

Does anyone else’s cat drink like this?

Any new surface that is put down in her part of the house, she has to walk on it, lie on it, sleep on it. Clean laundry piles, clothes I’m laying out to wear, plastic sacks … anything different from what’s already there.

The scratchy wool blanket and tarp protecting the new bathtub in the construction zone is no exception. I catch her sleeping in here a lot.

And while I’m STILL waiting for FedEx to deliver a client’s book that was supposed to be here YESTERDAY, Kyla and I played around with Mr. Christmas Bobo. Alas, this is the only image that halfway turned out.

Slide into home, Kyla!

Mr. Christmas Bobo didn’t stand a chance.

Change is Good & 2008 Faves

I think I have things the way I want them on the new blog theme – what do you think?

And to make up for not posting any images in a while, here’s a giant-sized post with my 2008 favorites.

[Sorry for the inconsistency in image sizes and such, it's late and I didn't want to go back and resize them all to fit the new theme. ]

That’s why!

I just finished a photo shoot. Not one where I took the shots, but Kyla and I were the subjects. Let me just say, I am so glad I do photojournalistic style photography. This was for a story in the local paper, The Edmond Sun, about my The Rescued book, and she wanted a shot of me, Kyla and my camera.  Getting all those elements to look good at the same time was hard!

That’s why I don’t do this kind of photography! I think I’ll stick to the way I do things. It works better for me, anyway.

[ Edmond locals: look for the story in this Tuesday's paper ]

Tree Light

I’ve decided that Kyla is a second-time-around poser.
Never fails. The first time I try to get some shots of her, they never work out.
She’s too squirmy and just wants to stick her nose about an inch from mine.

I think she knows. I think she knows that after I murmur to myself, “I give up. Why even try?”
She knows it’s time to move into model mode. Reluctantly, I always try a second round of shots. And invariably, I get the shot I wanted in the first place.

The second-time-around poser. Gotta love her.

What’s with those eyes?

Ode to Tile

Aah, Tile.
I love Tile.
Plastic be gone. Never too soon.
For Tile will take your place.
For Tile will make it a new room.

The first tile goes up …

Now one wall is mostly done.
